Ophase & Ofahrt

For orientation purposes, the student council offers two events. These are the Ophase at the beginning of the winter semester and the Ofahrt in the first month of the summer semester. The Ophase is organized for both bachelor and master students in the winter semester. In the summer semester, it is only offered to master students. We explain the details in the following.

Ophase

The Orientation Week / Phase (Ophase) is organized by the student council to provide first-year students with an easy introduction to their studies. During this week there are various lectures and introductory events as well as social activities. Here you can get to know other students and Darmstadt. You will also learn everything that is important for an easy start to your studies. Of course, you will also be shown how to set up accounts, the student mailbox and how to use the central campus portal. Since certain knowledge is also helpful in later studies, the student council offers a series of workshops in which you can learn, for example, LaTeX or git (for Bachelor students).

Furthermore, there is the registration. This is not required, but you help us to plan the Ophase better, and it is useful for you, because we can better inform you about changes and further information.

Of course, you’ll get the most information if you come by in person. A summary of the most important information and the key data of the Ophase can be found in the following overviews/PDFs:

If you have any questions about the orientation week, please send an email to ophase-leitung@d120.de. If you already study at the TU Darmstadt and you want to help, feel free to also write an email.

Ofahrt

The O(rientierungs)fahrt is the first semester trip of the student council at the TU Darmstadt at the beginning of the summer semester. The goal of the Ofahrt is to continue to establish contacts between the new students and to give them the opportunity to exchange ideas about common interests in various workshops.

The next Ofahrt takes place from April 23 to 25, 2027. For this, we meet at Starkenburg near Heppenheim (about 30km south of Darmstadt). The participation costs include accommodation, meals, and program and will amount to ~35€. Registration will be open after the orientation week 2026/27. However, visiting without speaking German might be difficult.
